This winter, we are having to make some difficult decisions. Hospices nationwide are facing a funding crisis, and we are not immune.
Together, it costs around £34 million a year to provide our services at Chestnut Tree House, Martlets and St Barnabas House. This figure has gone up as costs have risen, and it’s far more than we receive in government funding. Growing demand is adding to the challenge.
There are more families we want to support, but instead we’re having to make tough choices about what services we can provide in the future.
Will you be here for us this winter, so that we can continue to be there for families across Sussex and South East Hampshire?
Marc has terminal cancer and has been supported in his home and at one of our hospices by our specialist teams.
We have transformed his quality of life and given him precious time together with his husband Perrie and dog Gizmo, doing the things they love.
Will you help us keep caring for people like Marc across Brighton & Hove, Worthing and the surrounding areas?
Zoe and Owen’s baby Loui was born with an extremely rare genetic condition. He sadly died at just six weeks old.
They had been looking forward to spending their first Christmas together as a family, and coming home without him was devastating.
At first, Zoe struggled to leave the house, but with counselling from Chestnut Tree House she can see that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
